Homesick

God's word reminds us that this world is not our home. Do you ever feel like a stranger...like an alien...like you're not sure where to park for a while? It's really a GOOD thing. I don't want to be settled/complacent. But why is it so hard sometimes? And how on earth do you explain it to someone?!! Maybe my blog will help you understand. I hope you enjoy.

Jajja

A few months ago Rebekah and I were teaching a group of women (well, it was supposed to be women, but men came and it ended up being more men than women!!!) and we challenged them to go out and share their faith and start new house churches. Sarah decided she'd do it. She grabbed her Bible and headed down the hill from our house in search of anyone who would listen. She was scared to death, but her obedience paid off. (Obedience to God, not us!!)
Anyhoo, she has been leading this small group of women for about 8 months now. The "head" of the group is the lady in this picture. Sarah calls her "jajja". It's the word for grandmother, but it's what you call ALL old women as a term of respect. The group is an interesting mix. It has a lady who practices witchcraft, an alcoholic, and some Muslims. That is it DID have these. Now, it has a jajja whose life has been changed by the One, True, Living God; an alcoholic who hasn't had a drink in 3 months, and no sign of witchcraft!!! Mukama ye bazibwe!! (Praise God!) You should have seen Jajja dance coming out of that water! She was shaking a tail feather for sure!Posted by Picasa
