El Silencio
Some "pasos" are more serious than others. We were told me HAD to see "El Silencio", the most serious of all. This one goes out into the streets around midnight on Thursday night and goes all night long. It has no band and no one speaks as it goes by. We couldn't get very close, but did get this glimpse from a side street as it went by on its way to the cathedral. This was taken somewhere around 2 a.m. Thursday night/Friday morning is the most important part of the week. It is when the "big" pasos are. It is, of course, when the crucifixion would have taken place.
We also saw Macarena and a few others that night and got home early...around 3 a.m. We had planned to stay the whole night but had visitors who were staying at my house who had been walking the streets all day. By 2, they couldn't go another step. They probably don't even remember this moment!
